- 1. Analysis Of Music Video Using Theory Foo Fighters “Walk”
- 2. The storyline for this music video is copying the film “Fallen Down”. We see this as the main character is sat in his car in traffic and gets angry and impatient so he gets out of his car and walks off, following this he walks along a bridge singing, then he tries to ring someone and his phone is out of battery so he throws it off the bridge. Then he goes into a shop to ask for change so he can use a pay phone and the shopkeeper wont give him any change, so he starts to beat him up with a sweet from the counter and then takes his change from his tip jar. Then he goes to use the payphone and it doesn’t work, so he gets really frustrated and pushes over the payphone box. Then he walks into a fast food restaurant, asks for a burger and the burger is tiny compared to the burger he orders, so he gets cross and shoves the burger in the cashiers face. Then he’s walking in a park then he stands in dog poo and sits down to scrape it off and two thugs come along and try and steal his guitar but he gets cross beats one up and the other one wets himself and runs off. After that, he then walks on a golf course and the golfers get cross, then he puts his middle finger up at them so one of them hits him with a golf ball , so he chases them and steals their golf cart and then crashes it in a pond . Finally it cuts to him running along a road away from the police, he walks into a warehouse where he joins in playing with the rest of the band, and is later arrested. Summary:
- 3. Binary Opposites --Levi-Strauss You could say that the binary opposite in this video could be Man vs Bad Day. We see that this video is relatable as we all have bad days, this also helps the audience because engaged with the video as they can relate. This video also shows that even though he’s having a bad day and letting his anger make him make wrong choices that he’s not a nasty person and that its not maliciously done.
- 4. Mise en Scene: • Dressed in a suit which shows that he has a white collar job. Also shows that he should be level headed but actually he’s portrayed differently. • The car he is sat in is old and the paint is coming off which suggests maybe he doesn’t earn a lot. • He’s wearing glasses which suggests he is intelligent. • Facial hair shows he’s older and wise • Holding/ carrying a guitar shows he’s musical • Locations that its filmed in is reflecting the locations that the film they have copied is set in • High key lighting on the main actor showing that even though he’s getting angry he isn’t a bad person. Sound: • Diagetic Sound • Non- Diagetic At the start of the music video there is diegetic sound as the main character is sat in traffic and there are car horns going off, however when he gets out his car and starts to walk along the bridge the non-diegetic sound of their song played – from this point onwards there is only non-diegetic sound of the song playing and we hear no diegetic sound, only acting with no dialogue.
