• How to use different
technological tools (in
individual, pair and group work
) to enhance the language
learning experience of
students.
• How to have interesting and
complete videoconferences
• How to develop and assess
activities to boost the
productive skills of students in
an online course.
• In the Jigsaw review task we
practice collaborative work and we
socialized our knowledge. We had
to work in small groups
asynchronously.
• One benefit of this type of work in
that we get to create knowledge with
the different perceptions of different
people. And one challenge is that all
the members of the team must be
responsible for the group work,
each one has to follow the
instructions and deliver their
participation on time.
• For each task we need to think what language skills do
we want the students to practice, how they are going to
practice them and how long it is going to take for them to
finish it. We need to define whether it is individual pair, or
group work based on the aim of the activity. And we can
offer different tools for them to use.
Task 2.4
Moderating Forums
Aim
To consider the role of the online teacher in moderating forums and providing feedback
Time 30 - 45 minutes
• When we want to asses speaking we need to
think specifically what we want to assess:
vocabulary use, pronunciation, fluency,
spontaneous response. The teacher can make a
check list with the points to assess or a rubric
specifying levels of achievement and points.
Then she can listen the recordings and give
students feedback or she can share the rubric
with the students and ask them for peer
assessment so that students build their own
awareness of how to improve their fluency and
oral skills.
