The big number talks about generation capacity of India. But
are we able to meet our power demands?
So, what is not letting us manage the peak irrespective of
the giant generation capacity? – Lack of proper scheduling
& forecast resulting in ADSM penalty and high power
purchase cost.

Managing Real Time Power for Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited
Power Portfolio Management Solution
The Power Portfolio Management solution
involves setting up such an umbrella system,
under which numerous variables operate
simultaneously, and finally enable Tata
Power-DDL to fulfill the power demand of
its consumers at an optimal cost. It equips
Tata Power-DDL with a tool for analyzing the
demand supply scenario, arrive at the most
realistic energy requirement in the short as
well as long run, finding the sources of supply,
setting up of contracts or pricing agreements
with the suppliers or customer and then
processing the invoices for the power procured
or raising the invoices for the power supplied.
The PPMS system works in an integrated
manner with other operational systems existing
in a Utility such as SCADA, ERP and AMR to
exchange real time data pertaining to power
drawl and frequency along with energy data
from meters. It also works seamlessly with
SLDC and RLDC for fetching data related to Day
Ahead power availability projections.

Optimize Power Purchase
costs of your utility
PPMS Economic Benefits
Optimized Power Purchase Cost
With PPMS, Utilities will be able to optimize
power procurement costs through informed
decision making.
Power Portfolio Management
Utilities will be able to manage their portfolio
efficiently with reduction in Deviation
Settlement and Additional Deviation Settlement
charges.
PPMS Social Benefits
Reliable Power to Consumers
Better management of Power Portfolio would
mean 24X7 availability of power to consumers.
PPMS Environmental Benefits
EV & Renewables
Enhanced renewable and electric vehicle
penetration possible through optimal
scheduling.
DEMAND &
SUPPLY
FORECASTING
The PPMS system has
the capability to project
the availability of power
for day ahead, short term
and long term scenario;
the projections eventually
help in power purchase
cost estimation.
PRICE
FORECASTING
The system is capable of
projecting the day ahead
exchange rates for day
ahead bidding strategy
suggested by the solution,
short term scenario on the
basis of which bilateral
OTC contracts can be
done, short term/long term
forecast of fuel prices on
the basis of which variable
charges of various stations
can be estimated which
can ultimately be used to
project power purchase
cost of future years.
POWER
SCHEDULING
AUTOMATION
The scheduling process
involves various stakeholders
in the Power Value Chain like
RLDC, SLDC, State Gencos,
Central Sector Generating
Stations, other beneficiary
states and the state DISCOMs.
Our scheduling solution is
able to generate day ahead
and intra day scheduling
requirements to be sent to
SLDC after considering power
from long term arrangements,
short term bilateral/banking
contracts, inter discom
transactions and quantum
transacted through exchange.
The developed solutions can be easily scaled up to other DISCOMS Tata Power-DDL will provide
services of management and consultancy, inclusive of hardware and software.
Mr. Sanjay Banga Appointed as the CEO
Mr. Sanjay Banga, after serving as the
