New College Nottingham provides English language courses and teacher development programs. Veriko Michitashvili participated in a program from January to February 2012 that included sessions on contemporary teaching methodology, learner autonomy, using instructional technology, and materials analysis. Through this method teacher puts the students on a pass, that deepens their knowledge and builds skills they will need in future. This approach creates learning environment in which students construct their own knowledge.

- 11. Learner Autonomy Autonomy is often described as the ability to take charge of one’s learning. Autonomy is a process not a product. Autonomous learner takes active role in the learning process, generating ideas. Autonomy is best achieved when teacher acts as a facilitator of learning, a counsellor and as a resource.
