Common Core standards alone will not create equal education opportunities for all Connecticut students. While the standards aim to provide uniform curriculum, the reality is that schools like Harding High in Bridgeport face inequities compared to schools like Staples High in Westport such as large differences in per-pupil funding and resources. For true equity, all CT students deserve equal access to qualified teachers, well-funded programs, and safe learning environments regardless of their zip code.
