The sky’s the limit

   By Chelsea Barker
The first time I used a mac is when I started
media, getting used to using it was quite
difficult in the beginning. It is a much different
to the equipment I had been using prior to
media as I only used windows which is a very
straight forward piece of technology. Although
that makes it easier to use the windows
software is very restricting and you can't really
be creative. The Mac on the other hand
embraces creativity you can explore software
that allows you to produce music or create
videos. Also the speed is very fast making
working a lot more efficient as you are not
waiting for the computer to load all the time. I
have therefore learnt that the higher quality of
the technology and the skill you have to use it
the Mac allows you to show off endlessly and its
just getting over the initial steps.
Using the online blogging site was very new to
me, when I first started using it, I kept saving
drafts and not publishing which meant when it
came to starting the next piece it went where
the initial post was supposed to go. When I got
used to he site however it was quite straight
forward. Overall the site could do with an
update as sometimes it won’t follow simple
commands. I quite liked using blogger as it
allowed me to do work anywhere and import all
different types of media.

                                 Another positive of using
the site is that it makes the
                                 work seem professional as
                                 it is used by professional
                                 bloggers.
The camera was very efficient and up to date, it allowed
me to enhance shutter speed, zoom in and out with
the use of the lens, it also gave me guides on the
digital lens so you could get the eye line right. There
was also an autofocus which helped to create clear
images. I could of taken the same photo's on a
handheld mobile phone however the sharpness of
the image would have been effected and therefore
wouldn't have produced the high quality of photo
                                  needed

This digital camera is what I used to get
the feedback from my target audience.
The camera did all the work really with its
easy layout all I had to do was import the
files onto the hard drive and then create a
final cut project and then export as a quick
time movie.
Photoshop started off as the bane of my life, I found it incredibly hard to navigate
around and finding shortcuts to make all the actions quicker was almost
impossible. However when I learned to use the software properly I loved the
programme, it allowed me to manipulate images making the brightness levels
higher and removing shadows to make the quality of the picture higher. You can
understand why real professional magazines will use his software as it is very
efficient and allows you to be as creative as you like. Also once you have found
all the shortcuts you can create a high standard of work in a short space of time.
In Design was very similar to Photoshop so once I
had got the hang of Photoshop ID was much and
much alike. The software allowed me to import my
PSD of my final product meaning that if I made
changes to the Photoshop file they would
automatically update. If I had to do this manually it
would have been very time consuming.
The rise of web 2.0 over the past decade has created a new
world were the consumer has become the creator and this
can all be achieved at home on computers and laptops.
Whilst doing research and planning I have used the Google
search engine numerous times. Before the web 2.0 the
information gathered would have meant trailing through
lots of book which would have been very time consuming. I
  have also used sites like...
• Slideshare
• Prezi
• Youtube
• Glogster
• Pixton
So the question was what have I learnt over the construction
process about technology. Well I can definitely say that
without the rise of the web 2.0, the proliferation of
technology and the convergence of hardware and software
I couldn’t have constructed a product at all.

I have used all the resources the internet and the software
programmes I have had available to me and with out them
the end product wouldn’t have been comparable. Although
it was me that controlled them and constructed the
product I couldn’t have constructed them to the high
   quality achieved with he technology.
