This document discusses how communities can build schools using plastic bottles as the primary building material. [1] Volunteers collect and clean plastic bottles that are then stuffed with trash and compacted into "eco-bricks" which serve as the building blocks. [2] The eco-bricks are used as the foundations, frames, and for filling in gaps in construction of the bottle schools. [3] These schools provide education for communities that previously lacked school facilities, while also having positive environmental and community engagement impacts.
