Technologies used to create product
Research, planning & evaluation
Internet & Blogging sites:The internet was the main technology used in the research, planning and evaluation stages. Sites such as Youtube, IMDB (internet movie database), Google and Wordpress were used.Youtube was used in research to view the trailers that were analysed to help gather inspiration for our own product, by using this it was easy to gather screenshots and pause and re watch the trailers as many times as possible carrying research further. This site was also used to upload audience responses and interviews carried out to gather opinion and information. Our main and draft trailers were also uploaded to this site and the comments feature at the bottom allowed audience to provide feedback from which we used to improve our product.
The Internet Movie Database and Google sites made it easy to search for films relative to our product and gather information about them.Wordpress.com was used to record all findings, processes and evaluations, it was easy to use and as a blogging site, posts were easy to make and images, files and videos were easy to insert.

Office & Other Programs:In the research and evaluation processes To create documents Microsoft Word and Powerpoint was used, images was them made from these using Microsoft Paint. Microsoft Word made it easy to create spider diagrams and flowcharts, whilst Powerpoint helped to create slideshows. To insert some of the spider diagrams onto the blog I screen-shotted them and pasted them into the paint program and saved them as JPEGs and uploaded them onto the wordpress blogs to show the research that had been done.
Construction
Studio lighting:: Natural lighting was used in the construction process to shoot the outdoor running scenes and the lighting used in shops were kept the same. However to create harsh shadows and contrasts during the torture scenes of the film studio lighting was used. This also helped us to control where we wanted light to highlight things and to keep some things in darkness adding a sinister tone.
Camcorder:: To record audience responses and film group activities, a small Flip camera was used, this was compact and efficient making it accessible and convenient. We used a Panasonic camera to construct and capture the motion pictures of our product. Although the camera was HD somehow there were problems with the image quality of what was captured and that n dimly lit environments such as the shops colourful blocks and graininess appeared. In comparison to the running scenes which were shot with a Nikon D5000 (SLR camera) they were not as high definition.
Digital cameras & phones:: SLR cameras were used to take the images used in the poster and magazine cover as better quality images were needed. An SLR camera was also used to film one scene of the trailer. These were used to capture still images such as locations and images for the poster in the construction and research processes. Mainly a compact camera was used for location pictures as it was easy to carry around and light, however sometimes the camera was forgotten in which phone cameras were used instead.
Editing software:: Various softwares such as iMovie and iMovie HD were used to edit the trailer in the construction, to edit the ancillaries Adobe Photoshop CS5 was used. Using iMovie and iMovie HD made it easier to cut parts of the trailer and make use of effects such as the heartbeat and black & white moments. The reason why both programs were used even though they are similar is because issues ensued, midway during the editing process iMovie HD began to crash and we noticed this began to happen every time the program was opened so iMovie was used instead. iMovie we found was a bit harder to use but eventually we began to get accustomed and found it had better utilities.
I believe Adobe Photoshop was the easiest and most efficient program to use during this process as I already had experience of it from before. Photoshop had the most tools such as layering, transformation, airbrushing and colouring so to create the most effective poster an image of the actor was layered over a London skyline to establish the setting and the main character which in the questionnaire conducted our audience felt was the most important elements t0 a poster. This program also had a variety of fonts available allowing suitable and effective typography to be used. It was also the best in creating the magazine cover as the opportunity for layering allowed room for other supplementary images to feature on the magazine making it more appealing.
Overall:The use of new media technology has made this project more creative, organised, efficient, productive and professional in the stages of planning, research, construction and evaluation.
