This document summarizes a guided reading lesson that used video clips to help students improve their reading skills. The lesson objectives were to help students read smoothly instead of word-by-word and to encourage expression. Two video clips were shown, one of monkeys communicating to demonstrate expression and one of swans gliding smoothly in water. The students were engaged by the clips and able to relate what they saw to how they should read. While the laptop screen was small, the students benefited from having a visual to connect to the concepts. For future lessons, the teacher plans to use a projector to display clips for the whole class.
