Tess Gerritsen is a Chinese-American novelist born in 1953. She has sold over 25 million copies of her novels. Some of her well known works include the novels Harvest published in 1996, The Surgeon from 2001, and Life Support from 2009. The passage describes a plot of one of her novels about an astronaut named Emma Watson working for NASA on a mission to the International Space Station. When the crew arrives, a Japanese astronaut who had been working with lab rats dies.
