HLI-GBD-Maintenance project focuses on the Group Insurance for the Insurance Policies in the account.
Project Description
This project deals with the maintenance changes that happen in Group Benefits applications.
Applications:
Case Management:
Case Management is an application designed to capture and manage complete information about
Group Life and Disability policy related cases after they have been sold. This includes creation of new cases
and also performing modifications to existing cases. In general the complete information about an insured
is collectively referred to as a ‘Case’. The primary functionality of the Case Management system is to
create and manage these cases. The major benefit of Case Management application is that it acts as a
single consolidated repository of all case related information and provides single point access for the same.
Booklets:
Group Benefits Division (GBD) of Hartford Life presently sells Life, Disability and Stand Alone ADD policies.
For the policies sold by the Hartford, the insured is issued a ‘Booklet’ detailing the Coverage provided, the
classes to which it is applicable, the Provisions provided, the exclusions, general and other related
information
Pulse (Premier Underwriting Leading to Service Excellence):
PULSE is a medical underwriting application which will help the Medical Underwriters to assess the degree
of individual medical risks for the enrollees that require evidence of insurability. The underwriters enter
application details manually into PULSE application. PULSE has lots of medical and eligibility rules running
behind, which will create corresponding outcomes to help the underwriter to decide whether to
Approve/Decline/Withdrawn/Order Requirements/Incomplete take any other action on the application.
Letters also will be generated depending on the outcome and sent to customers/insurers. The user can
also enter data online to PULSE, using third party application called BRIX through WEB Services.

Direct Line Group project focuses on Property & Casualty Insurance and mostly for Motor Insurance.
Project Description
This project deals with the Motor Insurance which is working on the Guidewire tool. Guidewire is a third
party tool built in for Policy Creation, Claim Creation and Billing Center.
ST Guidewire project focuses on the System Testing of the Guidewire tool for Policy Creation. In
Guidewire Policy Center, project scope is to test the system whether the tool is working as per the
requirement or not.
ST Pricing project focuses on the RADAR server where the data will flow from Guidewire to RADAR
by touching many interfaces. The scope of the project is to test the request of response of enriched xmls
which is generating by RADAR to make sure the functionality of RADAR is meeting the requirements.
Role: Value Chain Lead & Application Lead
Responsibilities:
 Acting as a Value Chain (Customer Activation) Lead among 4 Value Chains
 Test Lead for Case Management, Booklets & Pulse applications
 Involve in the End to End planning of each release starting with Test estimation till Test closure
 Understand the risk and issues involved with each release and communicate the same pro actively
to all the internal & external stake holders on a timely basis
 Understand the application testing requirements and to prepare test plan & test strategy
 Create test specifications document detailing the high level scenarios as per approved requirements
 Finding the requirement defects in early phase during Requirement Analysis which might miss from
BA or Client
 Prioritizing my testing work from high to low priority and plan to work accordingly. Analyzing all
associated risks before prioritizing the work
 Analyzing during RA phase about the feasibility of automation
 Ensure complete customer focus in deliveries including managing requirements, reviews, obtaining
acceptance plans and feedbacks
 Communicating project status to onsite senior management and all stakeholders on
daily/weekly/monthly basis
 As a Value Chain Lead attending End to End Calls with Client on Bi-weekly to give the updates
(ongoing and upcoming) of all application to highlight the risk (if any)

Major Initiatives
Zurich Auto load:
The Hartford acquired a big deal by taking over the statutory disability cases from Zurich. The first hurdle
involved with this procurement was to load all the cases of Zurich into Hartford system, issuing of
certificates to the policy holders. In order to make this process a smooth one the Zurich Auto load was
introduced. Through this initiative the cases were auto loaded into Hartford’s Case Management system
using backend procedures. This project was highly business critical considering the stringent timelines &
huge number of cases close to 60,000 to be loaded.
 Acted as a single point of contact from offshore for testing during the Zurich Auto load.
 Involved in end to end planning of the initiative from Test estimation till Test Closure.
 Successfully tested the end to end flow of cases in all upstream & downstream applications.
Booklets WAL:
There were close to 368 items related to Compliance rules & regulations pertaining to state laws that had
to be incorporated in The Hartford’s Booklet being issued to the employers. This had to be completed over
a short span of 6 months. The 360+ items were brought to closure by adapting agile methodology. This
project involved a team of 6 testers working closely with the Business analysts, developers.
 Acted as a Point of Contact for the team of 6 members.
 Involved in schedule planning, provided KT to the new members,
 Involved in peer review,
 Worked closely with the developers & BA to understand the requirements,
 Reported the issues/risks in a timely manner & successfully brought the 368 items to closure.
