What is The BeeEffect?
• A brand platform to mobilise education from the ground up that
talks to all South Africans
• A program that facilitates on-going education and awareness
• It’s main purpose is to utilise engagement mechanics to entrench
awareness & build on education to create behavioural &
attitude changes in South Africa
• The mechanics of the program are too designed to facilitate in
increasing bee numbers and addressing bee food diversity
• It’s about getting EVERYONE involved!
Why do we need thisprogram?
• Declining bee populations due to:
– The threat to Bees specifically around the lack of diverse flora
– Difficulties in securing safe havens / sites for bees to grow into
healthy swarms, protected from vandalism & toxins
The program focuses specifically on these two issues
• Our food security will be threatened if we do not increase bee
populations for pollination drives.
– Commercial agricultural pollination demands will increase with
the increased demand for food supply
Not enough bees = lessfood
We are targeting an
increase in Bee numbers
to deliver on a increasing
demand for Bees during
pollination by increasing
site opportunities:
• Bee Havens
• Urban Bee Farming
We are working to secure
healthy food supply and
environments for them:
• Bee Havens
• Seed programs
We are driving a platform of
Education & Awareness to
support in these two objectives:
• Schools Activation campaigns
• Above the line & digital
programs
• Retail of product that is
Bee-Centric
In a nutshell
Action to effect change.
This is The Bee Effect.
Doubling the current bee population of an
estimated 100 0 0 0 hives to 200 0 0 0
These figures are guidelines being used to drive the program, they are not exact or proven, but
estimates given to us from parties in the industry. Over the course of time we will work in
collaboration with industry and associations to attempt to firm these figures up. It is after all
well worth establishing exactly where we sit in this situation.
Ensuring diverse food security with 200 0 0 0
hectares of land under the Bee Haven program
What we are targeting
The bee effect: Action to effect change
• There is a touchpoint for every individual, business & association to offer their help and
support, what can you do to actively participatein our threats against Bees?
• Urban Bee Farming
• The seed program
– Schools Activation program
– Retail
– Seed packs
– Third party products
• Safe Havens for Bees
– Site securing for local commercial Beekeepers
– Maximising bee forage on agricultural lands
– Safe Havens for Bees
Healthy food sources makes for
healthy bees which means good
pollinating!
Synergy:
Eldorado
Synergy: Eldorado
• Bee-Centric thinking
– 320 hectares of land being nurtured back to pristine indigenous Breede Shale Renosterveld,
10kms from McGregor in the Breede River Valley
– Exciting location as it forms part of the Critical Biodiversity area of a natural landscape corridor
that connects the Riviersonderend Mountains with the Breede River via a network of natural
sites and also the Vrolikheid Protected Area (an upland-lowland corridor).
– Due to intensive agriculture of lowland areas there are not many of these natural corridors left,
that form a continuous link all the way from the mountains towards rivers and other important
biodiversity areas or landscape features - so it is important to try and keep it intact.
• It is against this backdrop that Synergy-Eldorado provides a Safe Haven for Bees.
We are looking for partners within
the three different areas, through
affiliation and where applicable
sponsorship. We aim to see
companies and products flying
The Bee Effect buzz on products
and their marketing, effecting
awareness for bee buzziness…
Affiliation with The BeeEffect
– Increased sites for hives to
increase bee numbers
– Supporting in the, or operating
with the, optimum health
preservation and longevity
practices for bees

you are facilitating with: the :
– Food diversity for bees – creation and execution of on-
going awareness and education
programs through media
platforms
– changes in behaviour through this
education, needed to support
activities related to the threat
against bees
The Bee Effect is recognition for
Bee-Centric behaviour
Across the various elements:
• Brand exposure
• Digital Awareness & Education features on participants & the
programs they are involved with
• Public Relations programs to support digital & promotions
