The passage describes the story of the Pilgrims who came to America on the Mayflower in 1620 and settled in Plymouth. They faced many hardships during their first winter as they had little food and many got sick, resulting in deaths. In the spring, friendly local Indians helped the Pilgrims by teaching them how to plant corn and hunt wild turkeys. In the fall, the Pilgrims had a successful harvest and held a three-day feast, inviting the Indians who helped them, to celebrate their survival. This feast is now known as the first Thanksgiving in America.
