Second conditional
• We use the second conditional to talk
  about imaginary situations and their
  consequences:

If he studied harder, he would pass his exams.
She would travel around the world if she won the lottery.
What would you do if you found a lot of money?
Second conditional
• To form sentences we use: If + subject + verb in past
simple for the situation, subject + would/wouldn’t +
infinitive without to for the consequence.

• If the situation goes first, we write a comma:
If she had a dog, she would feel safe.

• If the consequence goes first, we don’t write a comma:
I would play football if I didn’t have classes today.

• Would can be contracted to ’d:
If she had a dog, she’d feel safe.
