The eagle has the longest lifespan of its species at 70 years. However, in its 40s its talons and beak become too weak for hunting and its heavy feathers make flying difficult, leaving it only able to die or undergo a painful 150-day change process. This involves knocking its beak against rocks to remove it, waiting for a new one, removing its talons, and molting its old feathers, after which it can fly again and live another 30 years. The lesson is that change is sometimes needed to survive and we must shed old habits to take advantage of the present.
