- 3. WHAT IS THE “REST OF SOUL” GOD PROMISES? • It is the cessation of our striving to make ourselves right with and reconciled to God. It is a continuing posture of trust in the finished work of Christ and an abandonment of our attempts to add anything to His free gift of righteousness, justification, adoption, and belonging. “Jesus paid it all – all to Him I owe…” • “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest…” (Hebrews 4:910 11a)
