- 6. “ We are proud to announce that two Travis High School students were Semi-Finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Contest. Sydney Hodges and Albert Zhang were two of only 16,000 students across the nation to score high enough on the PSAT last year to qualify for this tremendous honor. Travis also had six Commended Scholars that were among the top 50,000 students across the nation to score high enough for this prestigious recognition. The six students include Brenna Bench, Rachel Blumenthal, Scott Clutter, Erin Cullison, Jonathan Olmon and Meagan Rennie. We also had four students score high enough on the test to become Outstanding Participants. William Crayton, Nkechi Mbah, Angel Nwachukwu and Preston Opara scored among the top 3% of all Black American students who took the test. Please make sure to congratulate these high-achieving students.”

- 10. Boys’ Basketball Tryouts Wednesday, October 26 Thursday, October 27 Time: 6:00 – 7:15 AM *You must attend a tryout meeting on Friday, October 14 at 6:55 am or at 2:35 pm in Room P205
- 11. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Travis student trainers will be selling pink t-shirts all month to raise money to donate to a local breast cancer charity. Shirts will be sold during lunches and at the varsity football games. Shirts are $10
