Which “Service” are we talking
           about?
Jesus is the ultimate human.
             Learn from him.

Nowhere will you find someone who doesn’t like
Jesus. People may not follow him but all respect
him – from all religions. Jose Rizal, Ghandi,
Muhammed, & of course the Bible.
Someone asked Jesus the same question:
“… love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, with all your
mind,&with all your strength.' The 2nd
  most important commandment is this:
'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
No other commandment is greater than
                   these."
             Mark 12:29-31
What does Jesus have to tell us about
                   Service?
Matthew 20:26-28 – Whoever wants to
become great among you will be your
servant. Whoever wants to be most
important among you will be your slave.
It's the same way with the Son of Man.
He didn't come so that others could
serve him. He came to serve & to give
his life as a ransom for many people.”
Who can I serve?
• Normal for us to serve our families
• Normal to serve our country
• Normal to serve our kababayan, kabarkada,
  kapuso, kapamilya
• But for Jesus is it also normal to serve our
  enemies!
• Of course we also must serve God.
  – It is only through serving God that we can truly serve
    others.
Why should I serve?
• For Jesus, powerlessness & humility define his
  interaction with the world.
• What do the following tell us about service?
  – born as a baby,
  – to a poor family,
  – a simple labourer,
  – walking wherever he goes,
  – eventually dying on across,
  – buriedina borrowed tomb.
What does service look like?
• Personal:
  – Ways I make others more important than myself
  – God, Parents, School, Church, Org., daily life
     • Studying is service to parents, teachers& God
• Corporate:
  – Ways we make others more important than ourselves
  – our group (barkada, org, church, class, etc.)
3 Ways to Serve:
• In my day-to-day life:
  – Paglalaba, pagwawalis, paghuhugas, atbp.
• In my groups:
  – Church, school, organizations, atbp.
• In my profession
  – Work is service

Service Advice:
• You can do it!
  – Not just strong serving weak or rich serving poor.
• Be Powerless. Don’t be the expert that is needed.
Find out how you can be served as you serve.
  – Eg. Medical Mission.
• Service changes our perspective.
  – In service, those served& those serving are both
    transformed.
