This document discusses key research in machine translation and transliteration in India, highlighting various systems and methodologies for translating between English and Indian languages as well as the importance of preserving phonological structures in transliteration. The paper presents analyses of the approaches used, emphasizes the necessity of machine translation in a multilingual context, and offers examples of established systems and their capabilities. Additionally, it features a novel hybrid POS tagging technique for Arabic that integrates hidden Markov models to improve accuracy.
