The study investigated the effects of substituting conventional cigarettes with e-cigarettes on biomarkers of exposure to harmful constituents in adult smokers over five days. Results showed significant reductions in urinary biomarkers among those who fully switched to e-cigarettes, and moderate reductions in dual users, while those who completely stopped smoking exhibited the greatest decreases. Overall, the findings suggest that substituting or reducing cigarette use with e-cigarettes can lower exposure to harmful substances associated with smoking.
