This case study analyzes emigration patterns of non-EU students in England and Wales, linking Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) data with Home Office exit checks data from 2015-2017. It reveals that around 70% of non-EU students typically leave long-term after their studies, often within a month of course completion, with only 10% departing within a week. The findings highlight the importance of linked data in understanding international student migration and suggest further research is necessary to improve data linkage methods.
