- #2: Hello, I am attorney, Ivan Piedrahita. I am an immigration attorney located in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. I will be giving an immigration presentation today.
- #4: The E-2 Visa category is for citizens of certain countries that have investment treaties with the United States. It allow these investors to come to the U.S. and invest into a new or existing business enterprise and obtain a visa to live and work in the U.S. in this business venture. There are many countries that have these treaties. This chart sets out these countries.
- #5: In order for the investor to qualify as an E-2 investor, the person must have majority control of the company. This is normally understood as having over 50% ownership control of the company.
- #12: Therefore, if in the process of getting to know your client you find out that he or she is interested in applying for an E-2 visa, you know that the person will have significant capital to invest in a business enterprise and that it should be seasoned in a financial institution. Additionally, you know that the person most likely will have significant resources to invest in real estate in the U.S.
