There are several types of electric circuits:
- A closed circuit allows current to flow continuously through a loop without interruption. An open circuit breaks the continuity so that current cannot flow.
- In a series circuit, the current flows through components in a single path. A parallel circuit branches so the current divides between paths, while the voltage remains the same across each branch.
- A short circuit occurs when a low resistance path is created, allowing more current to flow than intended and potentially causing damage.
