There are two main types of veneers: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are bonded onto teeth to improve cosmetics but require a longer treatment time. Composite veneers cover the front of teeth to change color, position, or shape and can be applied in a single office visit. Both veneer types are used to enhance the appearance of teeth.
