Understanding the Mechanics of AODD Pumps

Pump Body: The structure where the diaphragms, air valves and check
valves are placed is called the pump body. These are usually made of
materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, or plastic, depending on the

To begin the operation, the air distribution system directs the air supply to
the right air chamber and back side of the diaphragm. Due to this air
movement, the diaphragm is moved away from the centre towards the
liquid chamber. This results in the opposite diaphragm being pulled in the
other direction. This opposite diaphragm is now in suction stroke mode,
which creates a vacuum that draws fluid into the pump chamber from the
inlet.
Once the first diaphragm has completed its stroke, the air valve shifts,
sending air to the second diaphragm. This alternating movement
continues, creating a consistent fluid flow through the pump. While all
this happens, the check valves ensure that the fluid only moves in one
direction, preventing backflow and ensuring efficient transfer.
