Unit 21 proposal document
- 3. INTRODUCTION OF UNIT 21 Unit 21, this is my personal project, this is where I come up with any idea that I would like to do, from photography to a magazine. For this unit I think that I will use photography because I enjoy this and I think it is my faverouite part of media. However in mind map I have many different ideas. For this I would like to do black and white photos with colour because this will be interesting to do and also fun to edit.
- 4. IDEA 1 This is a good example of a photo I could try and create, I like this picture because, the colour on the lips is red and this represents love. The photographer has used this idea or love to great effect to create the photo. I also like it because the red and then the black and white really contrast together and this means that the colour stands out even more from the image and makes it look a lot more defined. This photo is also an example chiaroscuro this is were the artist uses the light and dark or shade to create power or meaning to the photo. Also if the photographer thinks that this will work to good affect in the photo it is a great technique to use in however was they want to portray it in the photo. Because the background of the image is black and white, this makes the red lips stand out to give them a lot more meaning to the image because it makes you think why the photographer has done this.
- 5. IDEA 2 I like this photo because this could represent anyone who thinks they are stylish or funky and it is something that I can relate to because the funky colours relate to my generation. I also like this photo because the background that they have decided to put in because the ground that they are stood, as well as that I like how that have used the trees to make the shoes stand out more. I think that this is a good photo because there is many different ways of making this photo, also It is very simple you could change the colour of the shoes or you could even have the shoes black and white and then colour around them to change it and make it different.
- 6. IDEA 3 This is my third and final idea, I like this photo because It is very different and abstract and it would be fun to recreate. It would be fun to recreate because it is different and would also be interesting. This is another example of chiaroscuro where the photographer has set up the image to use the natural background to create a shadow and make the photo look more interesting. The photographer has also tried to make it as individual as he could, and it feels like to the viewer almost like a weird dream and this keep them thinking what the photographer is trying to do and what the image means.

ANNOTATING MY IDEA I think that this image is trying to show how ‘man’ has lost his way, because he is in the forest and out of his comfort zone I also think that the box represents society and that many people are trapped in and want to be different however this is very difficult in our day and age. I also think that the boxes on the people heads is trying to say that everyone is the same and everyone is scared to show their own individual identity I think that they have put it in black and white because there is no fun and individuality in peoples lives and that they just follow the crowd and never try and be different because they are scared of what will happen
- 8. FINAL PHOTO IDEAS. For my recreation I would like to use different ideas from each different photo, I would like to add colour to something silly but for it to still have meaningful but also to keep it individual to me and try and keep it interesting and fun to keep the viewer guessing of what it means and why I have done it. So I would like to do something like my idea 2 because I like that style and I also like that idea.
- 9. PURPOSE OF PHOTOS. For my photo I'm going to hold a mini exhibit to show off my photos. What I will do is print off my photos of in A3 size paper and then what I will do is hang them up onto a board and show them off to everyone in the class.

This will then take in consideration of legal considerations because I have clearly stated what I am going to with the photos so there is no confusion about the photos.
- 12. LEGAL & ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS I have looked at many different examples of work and have been inspired, all my work will come from images I have taken. Though I have been influenced all will original and my own. Even though my target audience is 18 – 30, younger people can still look at the photo however they just might not get the meaning of it.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Facilities needed - To take my photos I will need to do them in my free time because I will have to go out of the school grounds to take them, I will be taking the photo in and around my house so I will not have to ask any for any permission because it is on the land that I own. I will also have to ask my sister to be involved in this because I will need help organising the photo. For this task I would like to set myself a budget of £20 because I will need to buy some clothes like in idea 3 or I will need to also get some cardboard for my photo and also any additional things that I can think of. For health and safety there isn't really that many thing that can go wrong the only one main think that there is, is that you could fall over and hurt yourself but there will be someone on hand to help you.
- 15. For the location of my photo will be outside my house in the forest because I think that it is the perfect location for my photo. In this task I will not really need to worry about this because they are my own photos and I am only taking ideas from these other photos.
- 16. PRACTICING MY TECHNIQUE To do this photo first of all I found a simple photo of a NY taxi and placed it into photo shop. Then I used the magnetic lasso tool to select the main part of the car I wanted. After this what I did was made the photo black and white. To do this you selected the background layer. Then you go onto Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Black and white. To make the background blurred you go to Filter – Blur – Motion blur.
- 17. MORE PRACTICING I also edited this photo with the same as the taxi photo before however the photo have a very different look to them. This photo have been taken at night with the lights reflecting off of the water. So I used the same technique to make the real building black and white and then I made the reflection colourful.
