- 3. Narrative of the film • The narrative of the film is a linear realist drama which can be reflected in a real life situation. We are in pre World War 2 in Devon, UK. The narrative of the drama reflects the administration of justice and the effects of one’s confessions and the synonyms of a Children’s poem.
- 4. Story Arc • The story arc of And Then There Were None is a juxtaposition between characters and past confessions. • Were introduced to August 1939 and get backstories of 8 protagonists who are complete strangers to one another. • The eight protagonists all meet each other at a docking yard at the coast of Devon, UK. • The eight strangers are then invited to a small isolated island off the coast called Soldier Island; for a ‘gathering’. The guests are then ready for the meal they were invited to and notice a gramophone. The protagonist Thomas Rogers puts the gramophone record into the gramophone and suspects music. The Gramophone instead plays a voice accusing the eight characters of confessional murders. • Shortly after this, a protagonist dies from poisoning. • The characters are in danger of death as there's a synonymous of a nursery rhyme the island is named after.
- 5. Technical sound • And then there were none uses non diegetic sound to make the audience fell suspense and hysterical. When the characters are on the boat going to the Unknown ‘Soldier island’. The sounds used are low depth trombone which make the audience feel suspicious of the island and may expect some aspect of danger.
- 6. Technical Camera • The camera techniques used in the drama are realist-type shots. The drama constantly uses point of view shots to show the contrasts between the protagonists. In one of the scenes the characters are intended to confess their sins after a mysterious gramophone had leaked their ‘supposed’ murders. We keep getting point of view points were the characters either admit their sin or create a distraction to forget about it. This technique is used effectively as it makes the audience either believe the character or turn against them.
- 7. Technical Editing • In the introduction of the drama of ‘And then there were none (2015)’ we are introduced to a montage of high lighting locations which resembles flashbacks to one of our protagonist’s backstory. The flashback could resemble something in the upcoming episodes of the drama which could alter the storyline or add storytelling. The Drama’s intro uses the same sound for the the introduction but includes key items to look for in the drama.
