Unit 50 Writing Copy Assignment 2 Task 6

Task 6

Before I can produce my copy I need to decide on the following:
    • Type of copy - Explain what type of story it is and why you think this would be
appropriate for the publication and target audience.
    • Style – write a detailed explanation on the style your copy will follow, i.e. the style,
        mood and tone of writing
    • Formats – describe the type of publications your stories will be printed in
    • Considerations – How long will your copy be? Who will you interview? Who is your
        target audience?

    1. Type of copy

The type of copy I am going to produce is the Vip article. My copy takes the
format of a question and answer article. The advantages of using this type of
article are that I retrieve information straight from the artist; meaning it is the
most accurate and truthful information. This allows the majority of the text or at
least a large portion to be from the artist, and people would much rather hear
from the artist as opposed to a journalist. The Vip article reads much more like a
conversation than an article, there is an extremely informal tone, and there is
much less formal language. The disadvantage is that it may not be ad informative
as the free-flowing article, as the free flowing article is extremely detailed, and
goes into the artists life in more depth. Also the free flowing article is more
investigative, as opposed to an informal style that is shown in the Vip article.

    2. Style

I am taking a Question and Answer style, meaning there is a physical structure to
the text. This allows me to introduce the artist, and get into the topics that the
readers want to see, it also allows me to improvise and change my questioning
based on responses from the interviewee, or go with the flow of the
conversation. The disadvantage may be that the artist might not be very vocal if
so, I will have to work extremely hard on the questioning format.

    3. Format

My article will be laid out in the traditional VIP fashion, with an introduction,
question and answer paragraphs. Very uniform, very square, text will be aligned
in columns for easy reading too. The right page will have a picture of the artist,
described as I have done before.
