INTRODUCTION
Energy: we are
constantly using it,
but…where does it
come from? What can
happen if we use
more energy than the
one that we produce?
Do you use energy as
a responsible citizen?
Watch this video for a quick introduction to some of the
facts you need to know about energy use and production.
HOW TO DO THE WORK
This is an INDIVIDUAL work, you have to do it on your own.
You can do a poster, a power point, a book, a word
document… you can choose whatever you want as long as
you do it clean and properly organized.
The only part of the work you must show to your classmates
is the main task, the questions are just for me.
QUESTIONS
Answer to these questions to introduce yourself to energy (by looking at the UNIT
7 document):
• Where can we get energy from?
• What is the difference between renewable and non-
renewable energies?
• Name all the renewable energies that you know.
• What do we use energy for?
MAIN TASK
Watch this video:
MAIN TASK
Now ask your parents to help you answering the following questions:
 Do you unplug electronic devices while you aren’t using them?
 Which temperature is the heating in your house? Which clothes do you wear at
home during winter?
 Have you got an air conditioner system at home? Do you use it in summer? How
many hours a day do you use it?
 How do you go to work or to school every day?
 How many hours a day is your house’s TV switched on?
 How many times a week do you use the washing machine? At which
temperature do you usually use it?
 Have you got a dish washer? How many times a week do you use it?
 Do you usually have a shower or a bath?
 What do you usually do in your free time?
MAIN TASK
After answering all the previous questions:
DO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY USE ENERGY IN A
RESPONSIBLE WAY?
HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE THE WAY YOU USE
ENERGY?(Explain in some steps how you and your family are going
to save more energy)
EVALUATION
The last day to give in the work is:
THURSDAY 26th MARCH 2015
This is an individual work.
The teacher will evaluate:
• Using information to answer to the questions asked.
• Being organized and clean.
• Doing the work on your own, the only help you need is the
answers to the main task questions where it says: “ask your
parents”.
• The explanation of your plan to use energy in a responsible way to
your partners.
CONCLUSION
Now that you know how important is energy and how to save it…
LET’S GET GREEN AND HELP OUR
PLANET!!
