Unit one Powerpoint
Part 2
Locations- What was our location?
The Location we decided on was a venue in
London called Ministry of Sound. This
location seemed ideal for us as we were
familiar with the area (London), it was the
right scenery for our music video (club)
and the fees that we needed covering such
as the entry fee for the venue and the
travel being a train.
Locations – Access – hire?
• Our location was a location that could be
hired out or booked but we did not need to
hire it out for just us as there was an event
being held which we needed as there would
be the right setting/background. E:g,
clubbers, DJ’s, lights etc.
Locations - Recces
• Location recces are filled out during the pre
planning/production stage of your
production. A location recce is done for every
location you and your team attend to, so you
can see the strengths or weaknesses about
the location. It will also be filled with other
details about the location.
Locations – Where is it? Was forecast
an issue?
• The location would be easy to get to as it is in
London and there are many trains that lead
from our living area’s to London. The weather
forecast was not an issue for most of the
filming as we was inside most of the night.
We did take extra clothing for warmth in case
the weather changed.
Locations - Limitations and risks?
• There was some limitations and risks about
our locations such as it being a busy
environment and keeping together. Also
communication with each other may be
difficult as the music would be loud.
Locations – Limitations and risks?
• Risks that we looked at such as: keeping each
other and ourselves safe. Injury's or illness at
the venue. Equipment being broken or lost.
Locations – Cost?
• The location we had did not have a cost
involving hiring it was only the entry fee for
the venue that we had a fee for which was
£25 entry plus any drinks we needed inside.
Materials? What materials did you
use?
Freesound.org enables you to download
sounds to put over your music video. Such as
audience noises.
Materials – What materials did you
use?
• This website enables you to download high
quality images.
Materials – Props and costumes?
• The props and costumes that I think would be
ideal for our music video is a variety between
a club costume and the indie look.
• The props we would need include tables
chairs glasses and drinks for the first location.
• We do not props for our second location.
Materials – Props and Costumes
• Finding costumes on websites that sell
clothes.
Contributors-
• We have different people involved in the
production such as illustrators, specialists.
Contributors – Scream Video
• The designer of the scream video named Tom
Foden contributed in the scream video. He
had previous experience of working with
Madonna on ‘Bedtime Stories’ and other
known celebrities.
Tom Foden - Designer
• Tom Foden originally wanted to be a racecar
driver until he was credited for a few
productions involving music production with
Madonna, Nine Inch Nails and Tarsem
Singh’s.
Contributors –
Our production would involve having a team of
talent to take part in the production, camera
crew, a producer, an editor and a director. We
also might have public contributors that are
also attending the venue that involve
themselves in our production.
Codes of practice and regulations.
• MCPS-PRS (Mechanical Copyright Protection
Society) was orginally created in 1914 for the
responsibility of collecting money for the live
performances of artists/bands.
• Considering we will be using a song over our music
video we will need to research more about the
Mechanical Copyright Protection Society in case we
run into any issues with the copyright situation with
using another artists song.
Location Permissions?
As we have two locations we will need to get
permission for both of them. We will need to get
permission for our first location from the house owner
and we will need to get permission from the owner of
‘Ministry of Sound’ or somebody who will be in charge
on the night of the event. Also with location
permissions we will need to think about our location
area and potential risks for example: If we was to film
in an area where somebody in the background would
be on camera, we would need to get permission from
them to use the footage they are involved in.
Legal (copyright, health and safety?)
• Public liability insurance means we would be
insured if any damages were made while we
was at the venue.
• Health and safety such as injury and illness
would be each persons responasbility.
Ofcom? BBFC?
• BBFC looks at the age ratings for an audience on a game,
DVD or film (film can be short film, advertisement or films in
theatres)
• We will need to look at our production audience and check
the material is suitable for the age rating it would be
suitable for.
• Ofcom’s responsibility is to offer a service to deal with TV
and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles and postal
services. They follow the regulations put down by
‘Communications act’ of 2003 and set out to make sure the
public is safe from scams.
Trade Unions?
• PACT (producers alliance for cinema and
television) represents the interests in adverts
on UK television, children’s, film, digital and
animation media companies.
• They provide their members with support
and help in what their rights are (producers
for example)
Trade Unions?
• Broadcasting Entertainment Cinamatorgraph
and Theatre Union is put in place to give
advice and help to their members. Helping
them with pay negotiating and contracts with
their employers, advice on health and safety,
opportunities with networking events and
and career development etc.
