- 1. Safe Sex Unit Plan By: Jordan Colliflower
- 2. Analyze Learners • General: 9th and 10th graders, 8 boys, 11 girls, 14 Caucasian, 1 Latino, 4 African American • Learning Competencies: Some students should have a basic understanding of safe sex and sex education. • Learning Styles: Over half the class are visual learners and do very well hands on. It is best to stray from strictly lecturing and make sure to use visuals with the discussions.
- 3. Objective • The students will learn about safe sex and sex education over the next week by watching a video, doing a hands one activity, and researching and writing a paper. The students will categorize and describe the concept with 100% accuracy by the end of the week.
- 4. Break Down • Day1: Discussion on puberty, the reproduction system, and STD’s/unprotected sex. • Day 2: Will watch a video/ story about STD’s • Day 3: Hands on day. Discussion on the correct way to use condoms and other types of birth control. • Day 4: Guest speaker on different health clinics and where you can go for help. • Day 5: Computer lab/ research day
- 5. Use of Technology • Smart Board to show videos, pictures, and diagrams. • Computers to do research. • Banana’s and condoms to demonstrate the correct way to use the condoms and how to put them on.
