To use: type related: then the url of the
website

 The   fill in the blank operator lets you leave
    blank spaces in your searching, such as
    when searching for song lyrics or a quote
    where you can’t remember all the words.

To use: replace words in your search with *
allintext:
allintitle:
allinurl:
These three are very similar as they tell Google
where to look for the keywords.
 allintext  all keywords must be in the text
 allintitle all the keywords must be in the title
 allinurl all the keywords must be in the URL


To use: allinurl: followed by the keywords
site:
This operator lets you tell Google where to look
for websites. You can either type in an entire
site or a type of site (.gov, .edu, .org, etc.)

To use: type in keywords site:.nytimes.com

These operators are used to indicate a
range of numbers to be searched.

To use: place the .. between to numbers to
indicate the range.

Ignore sites or don’t include sites in the
results that have the words in them.

To use: place – followed by the word or
phrase you don’t want.

following:
 Find a copy in a bookstore
 Find a copy in a library (uses worldcat.org)

 If it is fully viewable you can download a PDF.
 View other editions, which may have more
  pages available for reading.

   Scholar.google.com
   Set library preferences to IVC and will let you know
    when an article is in our databases.
   Find scholarly articles (but sometimes at a cost).
   Advanced searching:
       can look by dates;
       can look for related articles.
   Under information about the article:
       Cited by – shows how many articles refer to it in their
        research, clicking on it will display those articles.
   Stock quotes
       Type in the ticker symbol
   Convert measurement
       # and unit of measure
   Sunrise and sunset
       Type sunrise and name
        of city
   Define:
