                                         What is universal
                                            design?
 What teachers do to design a certain kind of
learning that will help all students, universally
 Making sure everyone is a successful learner!
 Everyone becomes an expert learning!
 All students know an abundance of information,
can do a lot, and love what they are learning
 Design is based on the ability of the teacher to
be flexible which their methods, and allow
choices and different ways presenting their
                                    lessons
What we need to look at
The careful analysis of what learning really is:
 How does the learner pick up the information?
 Teachers needs to pay attention to how each student reacts
to information differently, and provide ways for all students
     universally to learn
 How do they express an act on that information?
 How the students react to what is being taught, and how it is
     being taught
 How were they engaged by the learning situation?
 Making sure the students were involved in what they were
learning, and were enjoying it and understanding the
     material

                                    QuickTime™ and a
                                      decompressor

The Principles to
            Remember!
 How the teacher presents information to the
  students
    multiple means of representation
 Giving multiple means of action and expression
 students vary in how they express what they know
 Multiple means of engagement
 if we don’t engage students and make it important to
them then the other principles will not seem important
