• #2: Hello,My name is Kathrene Borden and I would like to discuss the effects urbanization has on all populations of the environment. Although urbanization is a sign of prosperity, it does have a major negative impact on the current dwellers that reside in rural areas but, at the same time it is a sign of hope. • #3: When developing urban areas, rural areas, like forests lands inhabited by animals, birds, insects, fish, etc., will be destroyed during the development. • #4: With the development of urban areas, the drawback is the CO2 that is omitted into the environment that effects all life on earth. Not only does air pollution effect the quality of life for animals, birds, and fishes, but it also effects the quality for humans. • #5: Although there are many negatives to urbanization, a well developed urban plan can actually have a positive impact on the environment. During the development plan, if the plan revolves around the idea of living in harmony with nature and trying our best not to destroy it, we can actually have a wonderful place to live for all populations.
• #6: Tilburg Netherlands has moved from agricultural living to industrial, over the last fifteen years. The city has different divisions that take part in organizing the city’s way of living. The City Board and Council make the decisions on which products need to be made. The civil service is responsible for the production and lowest cost possible. Together, they plan how the city runs and is structured. Their model is one that works well for them and that many other cities try to copy. The city planners take into consideration how the residents feel about their environment and standard of living. • #7: Amsterdam Netherlands is one of the best examples of how compact development is successful. Engineers, from all over the world, visit Amsterdam to study their transportation system. Although, the population is dense, the traffic and transportation system is one of the best functional and uncongested, in the world. They have designed their city to run efficiently by reducing auto traffic and increasing public transportation, bicycling, and walking. • #8: The Cote d’Ivoire has been very successful in developing their community by improving their living conditions and economic situation. The CDQ has developed and increased employment through special projects aimed at improving self reliance. The project has cleaned up the city and housing standards. The infrastructure improvements have focused of road maintenance, drainage clean-up, and fixing city lights. The CDQ has also helped men and women study for jobs related to the business and commercial industries. The hope is to persuade young men and women to get involved with commercial enterprise. Another improvement the CDQ has made is with health care and the availability to the residents. The community based development for the Ivorians is to give them the advantage that other developed nations have and to get involved with the commercialized world. • #9: To conclude:Environmental urbanization has its benefits and its challenges. However, the benefits outweigh the challenges, when a well-developed plan is used. People in rural areas benefit because of the progress that comes with it. Education, able to compete in a global market, and health care are some examples that are beneficial. But, when countries urbanize, it is vital to think about the challenges that come with it , like air pollution and the original habitants being destroyed or affected in a negative way. There should always try to be a balance, in the way we progress and develop. Without balance, chaos will occur and all populations will be effected, in a negative way.
