- 2. I will need to use a camera for taking photographs for use within my magazine front cover design. To achieve crisp, clear and focused shots, I will need a high quality camera such as a Fujifilm Finepix S3300 bridge camera. I will also use this camera for taking the photographs used for my final promotional poster design. Also, I will need a high quality video recording device to capture clear shots. Preferably, I would like to take advantage of different settings in response to different external changes, for example, the change in light when recording in the dark. This will ensure that my final products will look high quality and professional.
- 3. During the Construction and Development section of my coursework, I will need the use of a laptop or computer. This is because a sufficient amount of editing will be needed to make my final products look professional and for the sequence of filming to run smoothly. Also, a laptop or computer will allow me to transfer and store my data adequately. Furthermore, when presenting my work through a blog format, I will need access to the internet to display this. In conclusion, the majority of my A2 media coursework will require the use of a computing device for various reasons.
- 4. To ensure that my trailer looks professional, I will need to use professional video editing software. I have chosen to use Adobe Premiere Pro Cs5.5 for this, as it contains all the necessary techniques to sufficiently edit my trailer to an appropriate standard. Also, Adobe Premiere Pro will allow me to combine different video clips in an effective sequence. I plan to use different transitions between clips to follow the horror genre, for example, a fade-out to black transition. I will also be able to layer different video clips to achieve different effects through various blending modes. Overall, Adobe Premiere Pro will ensure my trailer looks professional.
- 5. When constructing my promotional poster and magazine cover designs, I will need the use of an appropriate image editing software. I will be using Adobe Photoshop Cs5 for this, as it contains all the necessary techniques to achieve a professional standard final product. Through my coursework during AS Level, I gained appropriate experience using Photoshop. I will carry this on to A2 Level, using the techniques that I learned during AS Level, such as blending modes and the use of various tools. Photoshop will be essential during the construction and development stage of my coursework.
- 6. To achieve realistic effects throughout my trailer, I will be using a computer program which will allow me to generate transitions and various other video-based effects. I will be using Adobe After Effects for this, as it contains all the necessary techniques and abilities to create an interesting and effective movie trailer. Adobe After Effects provides a base program where I will create transitions for use within my main trailer. I will then transfer these transitions over to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 to sequence my trailer. This is an important feature as it will make my trailer more interesting, and will also help to express the genre of the trailer effectively.
- 7. Throughout my A2 Level coursework I will need the use of different memory storage equipment to effectively store media such as camera images, video clips and other miscellaneous data. It is important to backup data in various places to prevent unwanted information loss. I will need a USB memory device for use transferring data between computing platforms, and an SD card for use storing and transferring images taken on a camera. Also, sufficient memory is needed to be able to adequately store video clips, ensuring that I do not run out of memory space.
- 8. As I will be constructing and developing a movie trailer, I will be using an external display to showcase my trailer and promotional posters. This is not essential, but it will allow me to display my work to others in a more technological savvy fashion – Displaying a movie trailer on a Television will make it seem more authentic which I feel is important, and will allow me to gain appropriate feedback from others regarding my movie trailer.
- 9. I will also need to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Microsoft Word will allow me to create documents which will be beneficial when spell – checking information ready to be uploaded to my blog. I will use Microsoft Powerpoint to create a presentation which can be transferred to Slideshare.net as an effective means for displaying my work on my blog using a range of different media. Microsoft Excel will prove useful when planning my time and organising my work, for example, when creating my Gantt chart.
- 10. To make my blog more visually interesting and expressive, I will be using different programs and websites to create diversity amongst ways in which I display my work. Prezi is a website which will create a presentation which is eye-catching and will display work for my blog in an effective manner. Slideshare will transfer my presentations into an appropriate format for use on my blog, whereas Tagxedo will allow me to create artistic representations of various words relating to a certain topic, thus adding a creative element to the information presented on my blog.
