- 7. 2007 Student Learning Plan ● FCPS Student Achievement Goals o Goal 1 - Academics o Goal 2 – Essential Life Skills o Goal 3 – Responsibility to Community and World ● Virginia Department of Education Mandate o Regulation 8 VAC-20-131-5 et seq § Each middle and high school student must have a personal learning plan that aligns academic and career goals with the student’s course of study § Beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year, all Virginia public schools shall begin development of a personal Academic and Career Plan for each 7th Grader § The Plan shall be included in the student's record and shall be reviewed and updated, if necessary, during the ninth and eleventh grades.

Lessons Learned • Involving others beyond counseling staff is crucial • Gathering from all stakeholders including the business community is necessary • Training for staff needs to be job-embedded and available 24-7 • Providing additional resources for parents, students, and staff is important for success
