Visual literacy
involves closely examining
diverse visual texts across a
range of text types. Text
types include non-fiction,
textbooks, picture books, art,
advertisements, posters,
graphic novels, comic strips,
animations, film clips, web
pages, and more.
Why visual reading
is important?
is invaluable to reader development in so
many ways. It allows gradual development of
the student reader's understanding, slowing
down the analysis process by making it more
deliberate, and enabling students to build their
own interpretation, to rely on their own
powers of critical thinking

Students who are
skilled in visual
literacy are stronger
readers. They're able
to think from different
perspectives and
create meaning from
images.
Why is
visual
literacy

As visual literacy skills are
built, students learn to
think with their imagination
and strengthen their critical
thinking skills.
MOVIE REVIEW
VISUAL READING IN A
GROUP ACTIVITY
The class would be divided into
six groups they would decide
what movie to watch in order to
make a group presentation
about their movie review
Write an introduction about the movie
. Include the movie title release date ,
background information . You can
also add a sneak peek moment for the
readers to for something to look
forward to.
Introduction
GROUP 1
Write a summary of the whole movie story
line. Write the story on how you understand
it always keep in mind that your readers is
the same age as you . Also arrange the story
in chronological order of events do not make
comments in the story since you are not
analyzing it.
Summary of the

GROUP 2
Analyze the rising action and the climax of the
movie story line. In this area you can add personal
comments how the story goes or how can you
improve the story line more . Was the movie rising
action and climax satisfactory ? or does the movie
gives you satisfying result or excitement when you
have watch it ? Be honest with your analysis.

GROUP 3
On this part analyze the dialogues, characters, use
of colors (cinematic back grounds), camera
techniques, mood , tone , symbols used, costumes
or anything that contributes or key takes away
from the movie.
Creative

GROUP 4
On this part,express the things that could be factual
or erroneous. For example you discover the word
illuminati and was demonize in the movie but when
you search about it illuminati is a term related to
"enlightenment" taking about the men of science or
science on the rise. Make sure that opinionated
comments should be back up by evidences coming
from the movie you have watched.
Opinion about the

GROUP 5
On this part, you are announcing whether the
filmaker was successful in his/her purpose for the
reason why he made this movie, re-state your
evidence, explain how the motion picture was helpful
for providing a deeper understanding in history,
cultural awareness, personal experiences ,
realization, and the likes. The more in -depth the
conclusion is the better.
