VuFind is an open source library resource portal designed by Villanova University. It provides a customizable interface and faceted search for library resources including catalogs, databases, and repositories. At ULB, VuFind is used to provide access to institutional resources through harvesting metadata from repositories using OAI-PMH and storing it in a MySQL database rather than relying on a local ILS system. Records are transformed from their native DIDL/MODS format into a Lucene document structure for indexing by SOLR to power the search and retrieval functionality in VuFind.
