Wikis, Blogs, and Web publishing Final Presentation Amy Estroff April 2010
Most Useful Tool      To be honest, each of the four tools that I have learned about and used throughout this course have been extremely useful. I have already shared the technology wiki with my co-workers and they are very grateful. I have started using the blogs with my classes and it has worked out well so far. If you are interested, take a look! The Animoto movie was fun to put together, especially after our recent trip and the RSS feed saves me a lot of time each day. Although I would consider all of these tools equally useful, my favorite is the blog. It has such potential!
Successes and Challenges Success   I have had my greatest success with the blog. It is really catching on with my students and they seem to enjoy communicating like this, which is exactly what I want and need as a language teacher! Challenge   I had small challenge with my wiki. I was apprehensive in sending it out to the faculty because I did not want to offend anyone. I've heard that teachers are tough students, so I was afraid that they would take my suggestions the wrong way. I've only gotten a small amount of feedback, but it has been positive!
Online Learning This is the second course that I have taken online and it has been another great experience. I was able to do some research, reading, and work before I left on my trip and still catch up when I came home without doing any work while I was away. I really appreciate the flexibility that online learning offers, especially with a professor who will respond so quickly! The Moodle site is very user-friendly, well-organized, and in my opinion, has everything that an online learning course would need!
Wiki I was able to review a lot of the course work, revisit some of the useful resources, and provide a comprehensive site of resources for my co-workers. I just hope that they can start to use some of the ideas!       Mi Wiki
RSS Feed I organized a bunch of healthy-living blogs that I read on an almost-daily basis. This saves me a good amount of time! My RSS Feed:   iGoogle
Blog I created a blog to use with my students for extra communication practice. Each class is permitted to post on a certain post, which is written in Spanish about some every day topic (food, free time activities, etc.). This has them reading and writing in Spanish in a very different context! My Blog:   I used Blogger to create my blog at www.vjmspanish.blogspot.com
Animoto I used Animoto to show some highlights from our Spain trip. It was really fun to create this to share with anyone who only has 30 seconds to spare. I was tempted to purchase a package so that I could make a longer video!       My Animoto
Thanks for another great course and Happy Summer!
