WHERE IS WATER FOUND?
THESE GRAPHS SHOW HOW MUCH OF EARTH’S WATER IS
FOUND IN DIFFERENT FORMS.
Activity in Class: First review some concepts,
using a cup od fresh water, salt and ice to
depict how’s the Earth’s water distributed, the
activity will teach students how to get water,
and also will allow them to get deeper
understanding of the water cycle.
In the following slide a review of concepts
using a real image of any given section of land.
Objective: Learn about the water cycle, and understand how
water systems work in our Earth
PURPOSE OF THE ACTIVITY
• In this activity, students will be able to understand the
water cycle, they will also be able to review previously
learned concepts like: waters distribution in our Earth,
how much fresh water is available for us to drink, how
important is to save fresh water.
• Students will be able to get their own fresh water
from condensation, concept that is part of the water
cycle but somehow is “invisible” and sometimes
difficult to grasp
REVIEW: THE WATER CYCLE
Write in the blank spaces what is needed to go over the water cycle
AN ENDLESS CYCLE

This part of the PBL has to do with creative thinking, it doesn’t mater where they start or what they write,
is about brainstorming.
UNDERGROUND WATER
Groundwater Formation
What are the saturated and
unsaturated zones? Where does
water collect?
In this part students are just
reviewing concepts before they
get to start the activity.
TIME TO GET IDEAS AND FIND SOLUTIONS
FOR THE ACTIVITY (THE CASTAWAY), USE
THE DIAGRAM AS A GUIDE
THE PROBLEM: WE ARE HERE, AND NO
FRESH WATER, WHAT WILL WE DO?
FIRST STEP: WE NEED TO ASSESS THE
SITUATION AND GET SOME IDEAS
What do we know
about humans needs
to survive?
Why do I need to
know about the water
cycle?
How we’ll find a
solution to our
problem?
IDEA THAT WILL BE USED IN THIS ACTIVITY
OTHER IDEAS ON HOW TO GET WATER?
Rain Water? Underground water?
Use leaves: Use tree branches on the floor:
Use rocks: Use other:
