Web site analysis

LINKIN PARK WEBSITE FRONT COVER: The home page shows the artwork from their latest album "The Hunting Party" the website has chosen to put this image on the home page because it is the first thing you see and so the first thing you see is their new album. I will also keep this in mind while creating my own website that I can also use images of my artists latest song or album to put on the front cover of website to get audience attention. The image is of arrow shooting down and because of this it indicates to the viewer to scroll down where they will then find a quote from a song on the track called " The Hunting Party" and an image of the band.
- 3. COLOR: The color theme of the website is kept black and white or we can say grey and black. Almost all of the pictures and photography of linkin park are either black and white or in shades of dark blue. They do not have any bright or colorful pictures so this theme also matches their photography of previous works. FONTS: Font is kept very simple sans serif. It is in dark grey (almost black) color which stands out on white and grey background.
- 4. Okay so when we scroll down we see a quote from a song on the track called " The Hunting Party" and an image of the band. Again they are promoting the "The Hunting Party" by having lyrics from the song and now they are attaching the lyrics and image to the band. Again these are all useful things to consider when it comes to making my website. We can see they image they used is also black and white which compliments the website including all 6 members of the band. Then under the set of quotes we can se some links of social media accounts like facebook, twitter, Instagram, google etc.
- 5. • This section of the website is created so people can find out where Linkin Park are performing, interviews of the band and Images of the band. This section is useful because it provides the latest information about the band so that the viewer can feel close to the band because they are being updated as to what the band is doing by creating this bond it increases popularity for the band because people will talk about what they have seen on the website, they might share an image or quote something from one of their videos or get some friends to see them live. I feel I should create a similar section on website to form that bond to see my artist can increase in popularity. NEWS SECTION: We can see the same font is used here as in the front page. On the background we can see light grey clouds and sky. Like there is written “mike on product hunt live” this line will definitely attract the audience especially the fans of mike shinoda they would want to get updated by his every act so writing these kind of pull quotes informing about latest events will definitely lead to more viewers.
- 6. MEDIA SECTION: When we click on media we see some categories written in white on dark grey background. Here we can select the type of media which we want to see for example music videos, lyric videos , photos etc. here is a screenshot of the photos section: Then we can see some more categories I the photos section. I really like how their website is organized from head to toe. Viewers will not come up with ant difficulty which searching for anything on their website. I will also try to make categories in my website. Same is with the music video category:
- 7. COLLABORATION SECTION: Here we can see the customized shoes of linkin park. On the top we can see the years which also adds another point to the organization of the website.
- 8. STORE SECTION: When we click on the store tab we see 3 categories of stores including merchandise and music store. The website has a store section which is created to sell band merchandise, concert tickets and their music. This section is created for the fans who want more than to just listen to their music this section was created for the fans that want to wear the bands name on a T-shirt and want to see them live at a concert. This is an effective way of promoting the artist because it gains additional revenue for the band through merchandise and adds another platform for someone to buy their music. This a section I will definitely include on my website because it will gain additional revenue for artist but will also raise awareness of my artist because people will be walking around in T-shirts and hoodies with my artists name on it. I absolutely love their website. They have made it so organized and have a ton of categories for their fan’s support.
- 9. COLDPLAY- WEBSITE: This is how the colplay timeline looks like. When I first saw it looked pretty confusing to me then I spent some time on it and and found an Icon “filter by categories” and clicked on it to se categories. Here u can see the categories.
- 11. NIRVANA WEBSITE-FRONT PAGE MISC EN SCENE: Same as linkin park we can see the latest album of nirvana “in utero”’s main picture on its website. The color theme is derived from the logo of this album which is peach and red and skin. Nirvana usually uses very weird images in its albums and this one is weird too. We can see a bar under the logo in black color which shows categories of the website. One the right side we can see the logo of their album “in utero” and beside the logo we can see the same figure with wings as we can see on its album;s logo. FONTS: They have used their original logo which is in serif font. It is written in plain peach color because the background and the overall look of the page looks too busy. The text on the website other than the logo is also in simple font with plain colors. We can see some links to social media like fb, twitter and youtube on the top right of the black bar.
- 12. NIRVANA NEWS: When we click on the news tab we see list of news regarding nirvana. They have written the title of the news big and in capital letter with peach color and the detailed description of every title is written below in small font with white color. The big pink text looks attractive and catches audiences attention. Then here on the right side under the picture we can see the words written “order now” this will also attract their fans and they will order the album.
- 13. BIO SECTION: When we click on the BIO tab on the website we see a list of all the important happenings in the lives of band members. Also they have listed their achievements and dates. I guess I will also include this section in my artist’s website because here we can give every important information or any achievement which helps audience to get updated regurarly.
- 14. We can see the albums and songs of nirvana in “MUSIC” section and also there are links to buy it like it says “official store- amazon”. This is a good way to keep people updated about their latest albums in stores etc. MUSIC AND VIDEOS SECTION: Videos of different concerts and performances are in this section
- 15. STORE: -We can see in the store section they have mentioned prices of their albums and exclusive deals. This way they are keeping their fans updated about their latest album covers and other deals. -Here we can also see that they have focused their latest album “in utero” and are offering different deals in different prices. -Under the title we can see the description of the product and important information regarding it.
