Theme #2: shift and students

• It’s not your parents’ classroom anymore…
• And it will not be the same one that you were in, either

• So, who will your students be?
  • We care about technology in this class, but whose technology?
  • Mine? Yours? Your teachers? Your students?

• Consider who your students are (not what you are used
  to), and go from there?

 EDUC W200 Week 1
Theme #2: shift and students

• There are many ways to think about who your students
are in light of the digital SHIFT
• One way is “Digital Natives” or “Digital Immigrants”
    • Digital natives
o Native speakers of the digital language of computers, video
games, and the Internet. THEY’VE NEVER KNOWN IT ANY
            OTHER WAY.

    • Digital immigrants
o Those not born into the digital world, but have, at some point in
their lives, become fascinated by and adopted many or most
            aspects of the new technology
o Other ways?

Theme #2: shift and students

Think-Pair Share (3 Minutes):

• How might digital technology change who and how
  you teach?
   • Try to be specific…

• How might it impact your responsibilities as a teacher?
   • Again, think of specific impacts or situations
