What might be some barriers to implementing a cyber bullying policy? Explain your answer.<br />Web Exploration:<br />Directions:<br />Research a local (Ohio) school district’s anti-bullying policy on-line. Utilizing the following criteria, answer the questions regarding the district you researched. You do not need to reveal the name of the district you chose.<br />Criteria:<br />Among other requirements, O.R.C. 3313.666 calls for public school districts to:<br />1. Use the following definition of bullying in their school policies:<br />“Any intentional written, verbal, or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior both: (a) causes mental or physical harm to the other student; (b) is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student.”<br />2. Post a summary of all reported bullying incidents on their district websites at least twice a year.<br />3. The policy shall be developed in consultation with parents, school employees, school volunteers, students, and community members. <br />Questions:<br />Answer the following questions in paragraph form.<br />Does the policy you researched include evidence of these three criteria? <br />Did you find a summary of bullying/ harassment incidents for each year?<br />Does the policy specifically include cyber-bullying and the use of technology to harass or harm?<br />What does the policy indicate regarding when and where incidents take place? (On-campus vs. Off-campus, during school hours, using school equipment, etc.)<br />As a professional, do you feel the policy is thorough? Do you feel it goes beyond what is required, or is it minimal? <br />If you were a parent in this district, would you approve of this policy? Would you say it was easy to find the information you were looking for?
