EDUC W200 Week 7
ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION, AND YOUR
WEBQUESTS (FROM TIP #6)
• Open up your Webquest from last week [we continue
to work on it today], and go to the “evaluation” page

• We will take this time to talk about what goes on this
page, and what a rubric really is.

• Tools for creating rubrics:
   o Rubistar: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/
o iRubric (what we use in Oncourse for W200 rubrics):
     http://www.rcampus.com/indexrubric.cfm

 PRODUCTION PROJECTS
 AND OUR WEBQUESTS

EDUC W200 Week 7
WEBQUESTS – LET’S REVIEW!

• What is a webquest? And why do we bother?
o Contains content exploration and production tasks
o Is a student driven experience
o You as a teacher take your students on a quest – a journey.
o You need to structure this journey for your students

 EDUC W200 Week 7
WEBQUESTS – LET’S REVIEW!

• In a Webquest…
o Students explore content and resources the teacher
provides (or provides a way to find these resources)
o Students produce something in order to show what they
have learned, and to learn more during the process
o Students reference an assessment tool (rubric) to self-
monitor their progress in their work

 EDUC W200 Week 7
TIP #7 – GETTING STARTED

You are going to continue working on your Webquest
 1. Finish the “process” page first – you will take what you created
last week, and have the process end with the learner (completing
the webquest) creating something to demonstrate their
      knowledge
 2. Learners completing your webquest will create a product (talk
with your instructor about which technology tool to use)
 3. Create an “evaluation” page, and create an iRubric that learners
and you can use to assess the product students create
 4. Clean up the final product – Introduction, task, conclusion (and
credits) pages – based on your work today

 EDUC W200 Week 7
TIP #7 – GETTING STARTED

• You will create a sample of student work (what a
student would produce at the end of your webquest)
o You will not put this in your webquest
o You will embed this on your Teacher Website --> Student
Projects page, with a link to your webquest
o Link to the original webquest in the description

 EDUC W200 Week 7
TIP #7 – GETTING STARTED

• There are five suggested steps to this week’s TIP #7
o Part I: Create the idea and steps for the product students
     (completing the webquest) would create
o Part II: Complete the “process” page
o Part III: Create the iRubric for assessing what the students
produce, embed it on the “evaluation” page, and complete
the “evaluation” page (intro sentences above the rubric,
     clean up the page, etc)
o Part IV: Create your sample student work
o Part V: Embed your sample student work on the Student
Project page of your Teacher Website
