- 1. What is Craigslist.org? At first, Craigslist.org is the electric newsletter in San Francisco. Now, it’s known one of the most viewed web sites in over 450 countries. The main purpose of this site is a help-wanted advertisement. It includes house, job, sell, service, encounter and so on. 1
- 2. More information about Craigslist.org We can discuss about something like plantation, IT, etc on Craigslist.org. We can use Craigslist.org freely. So, we don’t have to pay any money when we post advertisement, look that, etc. Craigslist.org has some category. If we choose “Sale” category, it provide more sub category like books, electronics, sports, etc. We can use Craigslist.org easily and it’s useful. 2
- 3. Growing of Craigslist Each craigslist site is aiming particular community. At first, it’s San Francisco. After that, craigslist extends and becomes popular. Then, craigslist adds other city in their network first in 2000. It’s Boston. Some months later, more cities are added to craigslist network. Now, it’s over 450. 3
- 4. Craigslist as organization At first, Craigslist start pet project. After that, it becomes company. In 1999, Craigslist becomes nonprofit organization. And they bought domain “craigslist.com” because they want to protect from misunderstanding. “Craigslist.org” is true. Now, Craigslist has strong financial strength. 4
- 5. Craig Newmark and Jim Buckmaster Craigslist was developed by Craig Newmark and Jim Buckmaster. Usually they are praised because Craigslist is very big community now. But they weren’t normally. Newmark says that he is customer service man. And Buckmaster designed core systems of craigslist. They are founder and CEO of craigslist. 5
- 6. Problem of craigslist Craigslist has one big problem. It’s fraud. One example is telling a lie about money order. The swindler researches well. So, many people are cheated. The person who doesn’t have any crime is doubted. Now, the police checks craigslist. Other example of fraud is stealing privacy data, ID. 6
