What can we do to create more Efficient Model Based Collaboration

• #2:     Big advantage thinking about this stuff at PDC where we have the opportunity of taking Multi-Discipline, Multi Software projects, through Concept, Design, Detail design, Construction, and into Asset Management.   Our challenge now is to take this approach and extend the opportunities to include all the project stake holders and participants.   First pre-requisite:
• #3: Establish the workflows and controls as early as possible, preferably driven by the client (With a little advice of course!!). Obvious but rarely done. We arrive on a project to manage the BIM deliverables yet we are sometimes 2 years late with the input we would have liked at the beginning.
• #4: Model Database and Controls, File Naming Conventions, File Structures, Layer Control, External Model Data, separate from Model Geometry Data. E.g. Without this how can we know if the Ducting from the Architects Revit Model has been substituted with the Contractors Detailed Model and how can we control this process (Discuss). Native File Layers etc etc are are very useful for exception exporting yet never considered in the native files themselves with a view to future benefits in the BIM process. Stop the over laps!!!   Development of our own JMS system.
