14-18 October 2024 in Alcover (Spain)
Our Project
For our last meeting, the Croatian, German and Turkish
team were received by the Spanish hosts. Together,
they not only explored and got to know the area, but
also learnt about Renaissance and especially
Modernism, as Catalonia is the home of the well known
architect Gaudí, the main representative of
Modernism.
These locations and workshops provided us with a
deeper understanding of how art and architecture
evolved during these influential periods. In Barcelona,
we marveled at Gaudí’s iconic creations, such as the
Sagrada Família and Park Güell, which exemplify the
vibrant and imaginative style of Modernism. Through
Gaudí's work, we observed how natural forms and
colors are intricately woven into architectural designs,
reflecting the beauty of the surrounding environment.
During the final meeting, participants from various
countries presented their unique cultures and
traditions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and
experiences. Guided tours, walks around the area,
visiting the town hall and a workshop on the last
day of the project were the main activities to
highlight. Free time was also a must, as during that
week, local celebrations were organised.
Through our discussions, we also gained insights into the
Renaissance period, using the cities of Barcelona and
Tarragona as our vibrant backdrop. In Barcelona, we
examined Modernism, while Tarragona provided a
glimpse into the Roman influences that persisted
through this period and how they contributed to the
architectural evolution. We learned about the
significance of humanism during the Renaissance and
how it shifted perspectives on art and architecture,
emphasizing balance, symmetry, and the beauty of the
human form.
