- 3. How to work a technical, digital camera (SLR Cannon) § The camera I learnt to use on this project was the SLR camera by Cannon. I learnt how to: § Use the camera safely § Work the flash § Use the focus button § Using a tripod for the camera § How to deal with the camera in outdoor environments § How to handle the camera § Put on different modes (e.g beauty shot)

Development of Photoshop skill § I was able to build on the skills I had learnt using Photoshop for my GCSE work last year. § The tools I was able to newly use and use correctly were: § Layers – how to manipulate them so they work to my benefit § Adding an image to the product that I had edited previously § Clone Stamp Tool § Spot healing brush tool § Contrast/Filters § Polygonal Lasso Tool
- 6. Scanning § I learnt how to scan in a document through the printer, onto my computer, then prepare to upload onto my blog. I used this technique to upload my questionnaires and audience feedback for my magazine. This improved my work also because it is another technique/method of displaying my work onto my blog. I like this technique because it showed the real writing of my audience feedback, so you can visibly see what reactions I got to my magazine. § I also used this technique to scan in my drawn plans of my magazine. This proved to be very helpful because I had an online template I could refer back to.

Creating a blog (on Wordpress.com) § Creating a blog seemed like a very difficult task to start with, I needed to keep it interesting with using different methods of displaying my work and updating it quite frequently. I found this difficult but learnt how to use it successfully overall, as it showed me a new way of showing my work, instead of in written form or through a word document.
- 8. How to use Powerpoint/Word/Excel/Youtube/Slideshare § I could already use some of these programs before I began this project. Ones I were familiar with was Word and Powerpoint. However I was able to develop my abities by using them to work with other programs such as Slideshare. § I had never used Slideshare before but I was able to upload Powerpoints onto it for other people to view to help them out with any work media related which I was producing. At first I found it quite hard to use, but with practice It became one of my most used programs throughout this process. § Youtube was something I enjoyed using because I could share videos I had created (camera angles) and watch other video tutorials to help me, such as the make-up tutorial for my female model. Also it came in handy for watching documentaries on how to capture ‘The White Stripes’ mannerisms on the shoot.
- 9. Internet § The internet was a crucial device throughout this process. It was where I gathered a lot of my research from, and it provided the ability for me to use programs such as Slideshare, YouTube and Wordpress. § I could see other examples of music magazines, especially ones like NME and Q which are similar to my genre of music magazine. I could see how magazines have developed throughout the years and it helped me and gave me ideas which influenced my overall media product.
