Anne Frank was born in Germany in 1929 to parents Otto and Edith Frank. She enjoyed time with friends and school until anti-Jewish decrees restricted her life and freedom. Otto owned a business making jam called Opeka. Anne had an older sister named Margot. As Jews, Anne and her family faced increasing persecution and segregation under Nazi rule, as Hitler and the Nazis sought to eliminate Jews and viewed them as evil and not fitting the "perfect image."
