Why David Fall into Temptation
- 1. TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 12:9 Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
- 2. David committed sin not only to man but to God as well. God will not suffer his people to lie still in sin. By this parable Nathan drew from David a sentence against himself. God shows how much he hates sin, even in his own people; and wherever he finds it, he will not let it go unpunished. Giving way to sin hardens the heart, and provokes the departure of the Holy Spirit.

- 4. 1. HE LAY DOWN HIS ARMOR (EFE.6:11) “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” a. Helmet of Salvation b. Sword of the Spirit c. Breastplate of Righteousness d. Feet Shod of the Gospel of Peace e. Belt of Truth f. Shield of Faith
- 5. 2. HE DOES NOT LOOKING TO GOD (HEB.12:2) “Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” * David is focusing to his own desire.
- 6. 3. DID NOT WATCH AND PRAY(1 TES.5:17,EPH 6:18) “Pray without ceasing.” “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” Note: Pervent prayers is powerful and effective.
- 7. 4. HE IS ALONE (1 SAM. 11:1) “David remained in Jerusalem” Note: Have a fellowship with other!!!!

IGNORED GOD’S WORD (JOSH.1:8) “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” * Reading and meditating the Bible is the secret of prosperity and success.
